The Power of Six, Pitacus Lore
In keeping with a 10 point system, I award The Power of Six, Pitacus Lore, 5 points for art and Style, and 4 points for technical details.

Art and Style:
I enjoyed the characters. Some characters were built up in the first book, I Am Number Four, and more characters were added in this book. The author does a fabulous job of painting the lives of the new characters. We got a very unexpected, and therefore nice, love triangle, which shook things up quite a bit. The surprise betrayal was anticipateable, but never the less heart breaking.
The excitement continued on it's upward climb throughout the story, and reached a really climactic ending. I was a little disappointed that it left off at a bit of a cliff hanger, but that is also because I was thinking that the name of the book related to the surviving six Loriens and that the story may end with this book.
Silly me.

Technical details:
There were a few things that seemed a little off, like Marina building up a hidden supply of food, and never actually using it, unless of course we are going to see the supply in a later sequel.
There is some swearing, and it gets a little worse toward the end, but no F words, so I'm really not docking points for this.
I felt like John (#4) is a little lean on emotion. I can't put a finger on it, and I don't have the book here anymore, but there was something missing for him. It might be that there is a lot of telling rather than showing, but it still works pretty well.

Overall opinion:
I recommend this book. Read the first one (which I also recommend) first. Then indulge yourself in a great story that has aliens, guns, explosions, magic and Love. Now that's my kind of romance novel.

The Time Traveler's Wife.
When Clare is six years old a mysterious man appears to her in a secluded meadow on her fathers ranch. He claims to be a time traveler, and he's friendly enough. He appears to her many times as she gets older and her relationship with him deepens.
I actually really enjoyed this story. It gets a 4.5 for style and art. Audrey Niffenegger does a great job of weaving a story through time. You really come to like the characters. There are interesting encounters, fun experiences, and lots of love. For a book that has no villain it was very engaging.
I'm not rating it very high for technicalities. 2 points, and here's why: I really don't like swearing. And partiucularly the words that are considered supremely vulgar. I personally found the references to sex between husband and wife degrading. There is no call to use the F word. It is called sex. most people call it that. I might have believed it if it was just Gomez calling it that, but Clare and Henry really didn't seem like the type that would have called it that. Particularly when they were in a monogamous relationship.
I am also docking points for the excessive drinking, tobacco, and drug references. I realize some people do abuse substances, but I don't want the heroes of the story I am reading to be an addict.
The story is told in two point's of view first person present tense. Audrey handled the switch between POVs very well. The story was told well, skipping all the boring parts. by nature of the story it can't be told in chronological order. That said. I appreciated how it was done.
Summary: If you aren't bothered by swearing, and substance abuse you may really love this book. It is more of a literary style, which isn't really my type, but I still liked it.
